Diagnosis

What the evidence shows

What the evidence says about how you lead with AI, in prose.

Your ATLI is 3.6 (range 3.4 to 3.8) at medium confidence. The profile reads as translation-led: a strong organisational change-leadership capability paired with thin personal AI fluency. This is the framework hazard signal that contemporary research most frequently flags. Confident sponsorship without demonstrated personal practice is a known pattern where AI initiatives launch well, attract investment, generate visible activity, and then under-deliver in production because the leadership decisions about scope, risk, and trade-offs are not informed by direct contact with what the technology can and cannot do.

Translation is your high-evidence dimension. You have led workflow redesigns end-to-end with named methodologies, you mobilise stakeholders through change with the commitment-versus-compliance distinction in practice, you design governance with the right components, and you have brought pilots to production embedding. Workflow redesign and change architecture, and empathic mobilisation anchor the dimension at level 5; governance, safety and regulatory architecture; systems integration; operational execution and embedding sit at level 4.

The Judgement dimension is the priority development area, and the priority is structural rather than incremental. Depth of hands-on use at level 2 and calibrated trust and probabilistic reasoning at level 2 are the most direct signals that the decisions you make about AI in your organisation are being made one layer removed from the artefacts themselves. In the current AI cycle, this gap is more costly than it would have been in earlier transformation programmes because the technology is changing fast enough that briefings go stale between meetings and the only reliable way to maintain accurate intuitions is direct, frequent personal use. The development priorities below are ordered to close this gap quickly. The Endurance and Stability dimensions are not the bottleneck and do not need primary attention in the next two quarters.

Coverage

What this did not measure

Which parts of the framework this assessment measured directly, and which rest on your own account.

This assessment covers 11 of the framework's 15 sub-dimensions (tolerance for ambiguity, emotional regulation, decisive action under uncertainty and agentic supervision and orchestration are not yet directly assessed).

Profile

What your profile shows

Each dimension in turn: the headline reading and the evidence behind it.
Judgement
Judgement is the priority development area. Personal hands-on AI engagement is thin enough to compromise downstream decisions.

Hands-on use (level 2) shows you have tried AI tools but they are not integrated into your regular practice. Calibrated trust (level 2) is at the stated-habit level without task-by-task differentiation or named failure cases from your own experience. Fit judgement (level 3) is generic rather than workflow-specific. Agentic supervision (level 3) shows some configuration but the autonomy-boundary reasoning is light.

The risk is that organisational decisions about AI scope, risk thresholds, and vendor selection are being made without the calibration that comes from regular contact with the technology. Closing this gap is straightforward in mechanism (daily use across two or three workflows over a quarter) and high-leverage in effect.

Translation
Translation is the high-evidence dimension. You mobilise change and design governance with substantive skill.

Workflow redesign (level 5) shows multiple redesigns with named methodology and outcomes including a redesign-that-failed. Empathic mobilisation (level 5) shows specific identity-transition coaching with the commitment-versus-compliance distinction operational. Governance and safety architecture (level 4) shows decision-rights design and the start of safety-control-plane work. Systems integration (level 4) shows anticipated ripple effects with sequenced deployments. Operational execution (level 4) shows pilot-to-production embedding with non-deterministic metrics.

Governance, safety and regulatory architecture lifts to level 5 by adding the full safety control plane (kill-switch, silent-degradation monitoring, named-owner accountability). Operational execution and embedding lifts by adding the recursive-improvement element.

Endurance
Endurance is solid, with strong real-options reasoning and competent ambiguity-tolerance.

Strategic patience (level 4) shows defended investments with reasoning beyond sunk cost. Tolerance for ambiguity (level 4) shows competent operation when information is incomplete. Learning velocity (level 3) shows the reading and engagement practice and at least one updated belief with a named trigger.

Strategic patience and value reasoning under uncertainty, and tolerance for ambiguity are within reach of level 5 by adding a long-horizon defended investment (strategic patience and value reasoning under uncertainty) and a working practice for thinking clearly under deep ambiguity (tolerance for ambiguity). Learning velocity lifts by demonstrating multiple recent belief-updates including one that was politically expensive to make publicly.

Stability
Stability is steady. Composure, status security, and decisive action are all evidenced at competent levels.

Emotional regulation (level 4) and decisive action (level 4) both sit at level 4. Status security (level 3) shows admitted not-knowing in low-stakes contexts (vendor demos, training sessions) but not yet at the level of public learning-from-juniors that anchors level 5.

Status security is the priority lift in this dimension. Identifying a specific recent moment where you admitted not-knowing in a high-stakes context with the team observing, and naming the team habit you built around that behaviour, would move this to level 4 or level 5.

Strengths and priorities

Strengths and priorities

The sub-dimensions where the evidence is densest, and where further investment compounds most.
Strengths
  • Workflow redesign and change architecture · Redesigns processes for AI-augmented operation; applies defensible change methodology.
  • Empathic mobilisation · Reads organisational political/emotional state; mobilises through change; builds commitment over compliance.
Development priorities
  • Depth of hands-on use · Frequency, range, and duration of personal AI engagement.
  • Calibrated trust and probabilistic reasoning · Critical evaluation of AI outputs; reasoning about confidence intervals; systematic verification.
  • Status security · Capacity to be visibly inexpert; learns from juniors in public; shares own mistakes without face-saving.

How to use this report with your sponsor or coach.
  1. Discuss this profile with your sponsor and any executive coach you work with. The development priorities are ordered by likely impact, not by ease of execution.
  2. Consider whether a full ATLI assessment (Stage 2 + Stage 3 + Hogan integration) would be useful before any shortlist or appointment decision. This Part 1 view is indicative.
  3. For the development priorities flagged above, suggested resources and a 90-day development plan are available from your sponsor.
Glossary

What the dimensions mean

What each of the four dimensions measures.
Judgement
Judgement combines how deeply you use AI yourself, how well you calibrate trust in AI outputs, and how accurately you predict where AI will deliver value.
Translation
Translation is your capacity to redesign workflows, mobilise teams, design governance, anticipate cross-functional effects, and embed AI into operational discipline.
Endurance
Endurance is your value-reasoning under uncertainty, tolerance for ambiguity, and speed of belief-updating as new evidence arrives.
Stability
Stability is emotional regulation under pressure, security in being visibly inexpert, and decisiveness when information is incomplete.
